 Reasons To Believe

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death .. So choose life in order that you may live (Deuteronomy 30)

Carol Brooks

Faith and Facts
Faith is neither believing the impossible nor ignoring reality. It isn’t religious wishful thinking or believing that which is contrary to fact and evidence. The clearest definition comes from Hebrews 11:1 that reads, "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." The verse uses the word hope, assurance, and conviction (confidence). So what gives us confidence and assurance?

Critically Examine Everything?
The Judeo-Christian faith is surprisingly ruthless in its insistence on proof (broadly considered), evidence, truth, examination, 'cordial skepticism'... and correspondingly disdainful of those who believe nonsense.

Do Extraordinary Events Require Extraordinary Evidence?
All too often the criterion is set up that is never used to evaluate other events of the period. The Christian position only asks that we take the same reasoning and rational thought that we use to come to what are considered good conclusions in historical investigation, and apply those same means and methods to the New Testament and Jesus’ resurrection.

02White Choose Life That You May Live
This article is a long one... a very long one. Sixteen chapters to be precise. This simply because the tremendous importance of this topic demands as much detail as possible.

Many, if not most non-Christians assume that Christianity is a "blind faith"... that Christians ignore reality and have unquestioning loyalty to an absolute belief system without proof or evidence. In fact, that they believe contrary to all evidence and facts.  Much to the contrary, the Christian faith is a commitment based on evidence. The Judeo-Christian faith consistently stresses the importance of truth and makes appeal to evidence to support it's truth claims. This evidence includes the Bible’s humanly impossible authorship, it's candor about the faults and failings of it's main characters, fulfilled prophecy, and it's archaeological and scientific accuracy... none of which are seen in the books of other religions.

The question that must be honestly answered is whether the Gospel accounts were authored by the people whose name they bear, whether they intended to record history or had a hidden agenda. Finally, we must ask whether we can be reasonably certain that the text we have to today is what was originally written.

And why is this important? Simply because far from being outdated, out of touch, and largely irrelevant to modern society, the Kingdom of God Jesus was sent to earth to proclaim (No, His main message wasn’t about ‘love’) is exactly the utopian world most men and women can only dream of and it lasts for all eternity. However, the Bible tells us in no uncertain terms that we all have a choice to make in this life - the most important decision we will ever make. And, if the Bible is indeed the word of God as it claims to be and Jesus is the Son of God as He said He was, the consequences for the individual who chooses to ignore or counter the evidence with clever arguments, will be fatal.

The Bible does not glow in the dark, levitate or otherwise exhibit any physical qualities that could be seen as supernatural. How can we know beyond a shadow of doubt that it is divinely inspired and the only Word of God? Is it even possible to determine the validity and the authenticity of the claims made by these Scriptures.

Includes academia's asinine assault on the Bible - Was the New Testament influenced by pagan religions or philosophy? Why claiming there are lost books of the Bible makes absolutely NO sense. Also, before you laugh at stupid Christians remember that the Scriptures demonstrate scientific knowledge that predate by hundreds of years corresponding discoveries made by the modern scientific world.
