See A Biblical Study on Tithing Rod Parsley's Heresies Rod Parsley has the audacity to manipulates the meaning of The Day Of Atonement - the holiest day on the Jewish calendar - to elicit money from his extremely gullible listeners who blindly believe his heretical bilge without checking it for themselves. They apparently have never heard of the Bereans who checked everything that Paul and Silas told them for which Paul actually commended them. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11 NASB)
So why in the world do we imagine that we can take modern day pastor's and theologian's word at face value without checking for ourselves that what they teach is true? We must be a LOT more gullible and, dare I say it, more stupid than those ancient people. NOTE that looking into God's word to see if what you are being told is true DOES NOT mean reading isolated verses but is a lot more involved and takes a lot more effort. See Context is CRUCIAL And that is not all. Far from it. In this short video note the hand movements of a man the instant Rod Parsley touches him - supposedly to "deliver" him. Then compare those movements with the hand movements of a Hindu man before he starts yelling. See... Slain in The Spirit or An Awakened Kundalini? Compare the supposedly 'Christian' phenomenon of 'Slain In The Spirit' with the ancient Hindu tradition of awakening' Kundalini - a concentrated life force associated with the goddess Shakti. Not only are the the requirements for receiving are the same, but the methods of transmissions are the same and the resulting physical manifestations are virtually indistinguishable. The only people in the New Testament who manifested irrational and bizarre behavior of any kind were those who controlled by demonic forces.. This forces the conclusion that the various bizarre hand and head movements and even whole body jerking and rolling are all signs of demon possession. How then can this be Christian? Three "Commanded Feasts"?
Rod Parsley: Parsley claims there were three "commanded feasts" that had to be observed by every Israelite. He writes (Underlining Added) Is this the season for Christ's return? I believe it is — Why? In the Old Testament, God outlined three "commanded feasts" to be observed by every Israelite. And each one will ultimately have its fulfillment in Christ Jesus: 1. The Feast of Passover was fulfilled when the Lamb of God died on the Cross. 2. The Feast of Pentecost was fulfilled when the Holy Spirit was given to believers. 3. The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur in Hebrew) — this year September 24 - in the season of Tabernacles, is the only commanded feast that has not yet been fulfilled!
He goes on to say (Bold in original) How will its fulfillment happen? When Christ returns: Thessalonians 4:16 says, "the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout ... with the trumpet call of God" — the sounding of the shofar, which also signals the start of the Day of Atonement. And the Day of Atonement is coming up very quickly! We must prepare to meet the Lord in the air ... Or, if He does not make His return during the Atonement/Tabernacles season of 2023, we must prepare ourselves to receive the seven life-changing, supernatural blessings of the day of atonement. [01] (His "seven life-changing, supernatural blessings" are listed below)
The Scriptures: Three Commanded Feasts? Leviticus 23 opens with the words "The LORD spoke again to Moses, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'The Lord's appointed times which you shall proclaim as holy convocations - My appointed times are these... "
It then goes on to list the seven annual feasts commanded by the Lord and celebrated by Israel. Parsley apparently missed the feasts of Unleavened Bread and First-fruits both of which occurred between Passover and Shavuot or the Festival of Weeks which was a type or forerunner of Pentecost. The next in line were Rosh HaShanah (Feast of Trumpets) and Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) which came ten days after Rosh HaShanah. The intervening ten days were called The Days of Awe (or Penitence) because life and death hung in the balance. These feasts celebrated a historical event in Israel's past but were also are a prophecy of future events - ONLY four - Passover, Unleavened Bread, First-fruits, and Shavuot the Festival of Weeks have already been fulfilled. The other three - Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and The Feast of Booths have not yet been. The Fulfillment Of The Day Of Atonement Is Not When Christ Returns: Parsley writes 'the sounding of the Shofar signals the start of the Day of Atonement'. IT DOES NOT Leviticus 23:24 reads (Emphasis Added) "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation."
To put it simply, the feast of trumpets was held on the first day of Tishri when the trumpets were blown to summon the people to a holy convocation. The Day of Atonement came ten days later on the tenth day of Tishri which was Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement.) In other words the sounding of the shofar signalled the start of the Days of Awe. These ten days are symbolic of the final days of the age during which repentance is yet possible - when mankind (and the church) will be given their last opportunity to repent before Yom Kippur which has far deeper meaning than most people realize. The atonement ritual of the Old Testament culminated in Aaron sprinkling the blood of the slain animal on the Mercy Seat. Without this final step the ritual would have been incomplete and therefore ineffective. It will be no different at the end of the age. Jesus as the High Priest has yet to (probably symbolically) sprinkle the blood of the sacrifice (Jesus Himself) on the Mercy Seat without which the atonement would be incomplete. See The Significance Of Yom Kippur - The Type And The Antitype If the words Type and Antitype are new to you read Typology First Also see the Seventh Trumpet and the Timing of The Rapture. Links at the end of the page The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) Rod Parsley On a page entitled Seven Atonement Blessings Parsley's web site says (Underlining added to draw attention to the erroneous statements refuted just below) "Obey God's Command: Do Not Come Empty-Handed The Day of Atonement, within the Feast of Tabernacles, is the final "commanded feast" where all of God's people in Exodus 34 and Deuteronomy 16 were commanded to participate by bringing an offering as the Lord instructed: "... no one is to appear before me empty-handed.” When you obey God's command to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and honor Him on His holiest day of the year — beginning at sundown on September 29 — you can receive his promised blessings, all in double portion!"
The page goes on to ask... Why a double portion of these blessings? Joel 2:23 promises former and latter rain — double the blessing. Because we are claiming God's promise for double blessing, consider sowing a double seed — one in each hand. [02] This of course followed by all the "gifts" he will send you depending on how much money you send him.
The Scriptures 1.) Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement was NOT "within the Feast of Tabernacles". It took place some six months later.
Of the seven feasts Israel was commanded to celebrate, the last three feasts (Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles), that stretched over a period of twenty-one days in the fall of the year, came to be known collectively as Tabernacles. However the Feast of Tabernacles was a separate feast - the last of the year. Actually the Days Of Awe (the ten days from Rosh Hashanah to the Day of Atonement - both inclusive) was a time of penitence, prayer, and fasting, in preparation for the Feast of Tabernacles. (correctly translated "feast of booths" by the NASB and literal translations. Note: "Tabernacle" may not be the best translation because, in the Bible, the word, translated from the Hebrew mishkân, referred to God's portable Sanctuary in the desert. The shelters the Israelites lived in came from a different Hebrew word - sûkkâh, that simply means a temporary shelter made out of the branches of various trees and palm fronds. For example, Jonah made himself a sûkkâh so he could sit in the shade and see what was happening in Nineveh (Jonah 4:5 NASB)
This feast was instituted in grateful commemoration of the Israelites who lived securely in shelters during their 40 year wanderings in the wilderness. As a type, the feast of Tabernacles looks forward to the millennium when the people of God will have a long period of peace and rest. In fact, the prophet Zechariah made it clear that the feast of booths will be celebrated during the millennium. Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. (Zechariah 14:16 NASB)
In other words, once believers are past the Days of Awe and the Day of Atonement nothing is left but to celebrate the the Feast of Booths - a time of peace and safety. 2.) On The Day of Atonement "... no one is to appear before me empty-handed.” The Lord's instruction to the Israelites that they were not to appear before Him empty-handed appears three times "You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the appointed time in the month Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt. And none shall appear before Me empty-handed. (Exodus 23:15 NASB) "You shall redeem with a lamb the first offspring from a donkey; and if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem all the firstborn of your sons. None shall appear before Me empty-handed. (Exodus 34:20 NASB) "Three times in a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses, at the Feast of Unleavened Bread and at the Feast of Weeks and at the Feast of Booths, and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed. (Deuteronomy 16:16 NASB)
However, all three occurrences were in the context of the seven day Feast of Unleavened Bread that began on the day following Passover - that is on the 15th of Nisan which was the first month according to the Jewish calendar. Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement occurred on the 10th day of Tishri - the seventh month 3.) Joel 2:23 So rejoice, O sons of Zion, And be glad in the LORD your God; For He has given you the early rain for your vindication. And He has poured down for you the rain, The early and latter rain as before. (Joel 2:23 NASB)
The rain in Joel 2:23 has nothing to do with any 'double blessing' but as a type was referring to refers to actual precipitation that fell in Joel's time. As an antitype it was symbolic of God's blessing in the millennial kingdom. For more see the Footnote on THIS page. Scroll down The Day of Atonement - "Special Gifts"? Rod Parsley: At the very top of another page is this astounding statement (underlining added to draw attention to the erroneous statements refuted below)
He repeats the word "celebration" more than once. And a little further down he writes, (underlining added to draw attention to the erroneous statements refuted below) "So how are we to honor God by what He has done? Leviticus 23:27 gives us the following instruction: "Be careful to celebrate the Day of Atonement … You must observe it as an official day for holy assembly, a day to deny yourselves and present special gifts to the LORD.” [03] The bit about "special gifts" is repeated on this page. as well. [04]
The Scriptures: Compare this with what the Bible teaches (Emphasis Added) Celebration or Assembly? In the first place Leviticus 23:27 says nothing about a celebration. Much to the contrary the word used is miqra which means a convocation or assembly. It is used some 20 times in the Old Testament - largely in the Pentateuch. In other words, on the tenth of Tishri the people assembled for a holy convocation not a celebration feast. "On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation (Heb. miqra) for you, and you shall humble (Heb. ânâh) your souls and present an offering by fire to the LORD. (Leviticus 23:27 NASB)
Isaiah 1:13 makes it clear that the Father was speaking about gatherings. "Bring your worthless offerings no longer, Incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies (Heb. miqra) — I cannot endure iniquity and the solemn assembly. (NASB)
Celebration or Affliction? The Hebrew word ânâh (translated humble ) is usually rendered afflict - which means to cause suffering or unhappiness to; distress greatly. This is supported by other Old Testament verses such as God said to Abram, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed (Heb. ânâh) four hundred years. (Genesis 15:13 NASB) Thus says the LORD, "Though they are at full strength and likewise many, Even so, they will be cut off and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict (Heb. ânâh) you no longer. (Nahum 1:12 NASB)
In other words, they were commanded to afflict their souls in recognition of their sins and their need for atonement. Special Gifts? - apparently means sending him money And as far as 'presenting special gifts to the Lord' is concerned, the Bible says that on the Day of Atonement the Israelites were to "present an offering by fire to the LORD". The words offering by fire occurs over 40 times in the Old Testament, every one of which refers to a literal burnt offering. Examples include (Emphasis Added) "You shall offer up in smoke the whole ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD: it is a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD. (Exodus 29:18 NASB) "But the firstborn of an ox or the firstborn of a sheep or the firstborn of a goat, you shall not redeem; they are holy. You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar and shall offer up their fat in smoke as an offering by fire, for a soothing aroma to the LORD. (Numbers 18:17 NASB)
The specific procedures for the offerings by fire on Yom Kippur was outlined in great detail in Leviticus 16:1-34 Special gifts my foot. In this case Parsley encourages the "special gift" saying "I encourage you to give as a thanks offering, but also as a seed sown in expectancy, according to the command of the Lord."
The final words on the page are "Sow My Atonement Offering Now" outlined in red. [05] I have to wonder how many more ways these wolves will find to elicit money from their extremely gullible listeners. These scam artists are nothing other than the wolves Paul said would arise from the flock itself and draw away the disciples after them. "I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. "Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears. (Acts 20:29-31 NASB)
Part IV... That Earth Shaking Seventh Trumpet In a sense the Seventh Trumpet will be the most eventful of all them all literally ushering the old age out and the new one in. In summary, this last and final Trumpet... a) Brings and end to the mystery of God, when the doors to the Kingdom close forever with no possibility of redemption for any that have not yet become a disciple of the Lamb. b) Marks the point when believers are caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (the rapture) and c) Introduces the Seven Bowls that end all things. Note: the "sons of the kingdom" as they are called are physically moved off the earth for a very specific reason.
Part V... The 'Rapture' This page has been confined to the reasons the Pre-Tribulation Rapture is a figment of the imagination. (The article above shows that this meeting the Lord in the air, happens at the sounding of the Seventh Trumpet, and why Jesus takes His followers off the earth). Does what one believes about the timing of the Rapture matter? Yes, as a matter of fact, it does... very much. Parsley's Supposed Blessings IF you are "obedient to celebrate the feast" (by which he means send him money). 1. A double portion from the Lord ... twice the power of every blessing! (Joel 2:23) 2. Financial overflow (like the threshing floor of Joel 2:24)! 3. Restoration of what you've lost! (Joel 2:25) 4. An explosion of miracles — "wondrously,” Jesus says! (Joel 2:26) 5. The divine presence of Jesus Himself! (Joel 2:27) 6. Increased revelation knowledge — with angels camped around your children! (Joel 2:28) 7. Deliverance from anything blocking you! (Joel 2:32)
These seven blessings represent the abundance God wants to pour out on you in this upcoming holy season — when you are obedient to celebrate the feast. Sow Now Sow an atonement offering for your double portion of seven blessings, and I will thank you by sending you .... [06]
